My career as a Brewer yacht broker began in 2004 when I became a part of the Portsmouth, Rhode Island office. However, this is far from my first experience with boats; they have been an integral part of my life since I learned to sail on Barnegat Bay, New Jersey as a kid. Though I spent the early part of my working career in the scientific instrument business, I took an early retirement to extend my time sailing and being involved in building or restoring boats. As a Brewer yacht broker I continue to win numerous awards, including “Largest Commission”. I am a proud member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America and a Certified Professional Yacht Broker; I truly enjoy helping clients find the perfect power or sailboat to fit their needs.
When not at work, I can be found cruising on the water out of Jamestown, Rhode Island on the Narragansett Bay on my Freedom cat-ketch or restored Eastern motor launch. I hold a USCG 50-Ton Masters Captain’s License. I have a client-friendly focus and would be delighted to help you sell your present boat or help you find your next one, even if it's your first.
I had an excellent experience in selling my Jeanneau 45.2 with Andy Kovacs. He was very accommodating and accessible every time I called with a question. He always gave me a very honest opinion and very good advice. Once the offer was accepted, he made the process very easy. He completed all the paperwork and even managed our way through the survey. I would highly recommend his services. Beyond that, he is a very nice guy!
During the past three years I have sold two boats; one a Tiara 33 power boat and the other a Marshall 18 catboat, both times I used Andy Kovacs from Brewer Yacht Sales. Selling a boat can sometimes be a very stressful process because at times both the seller and the buyer can be very demanding. It takes a very special type of person to bring these two people together to the point that both feel good about the transaction. Andy is that type of person. He is knowledgeable, sincere and most importantly honest. I enjoyed my dealings with Andy and would highly recommend him to anyone trying to buy or sell a boat.
We chose Andy Kovacs at Brewer Yacht Sales as our listing broker. His successful and quick sale of our sailboat proved it was a good choice. Andy communicated constantly with us about the various sales activities and closed our sale efficiently and without any last minute issues. We would highly recommend him and the entire Brewer Yacht Sales team.
I owned a 26’ wooden lobster boat that I had bought from the builder in Jamestown, RI. I used it for 13 years and loved it, but there came a time when I decided to sell it. I listed it with Andy Kovacs at Brewer Yacht Sales in Portsmouth, RI. It was on the market for less than two months when he was approached by an individual who was interested. Andy showed the boat to the client, and we did a short demonstration run. Andy was able to negotiate the price to a favorable level for me. He took care of all of the paperwork for me and the buyer in a most professional manner. The sale process went very smoothly and quickly. Andy is a very qualified and efficient customer representative and extremely knowledgeable regarding all types of boats.
I was in the market for a lobster style boat to use locally in Narragansett Bay. I called Andy Kovacs at Brewer Yacht Sales in Portsmouth, RI and he found one for me within a week. It was located in Mystic, CT. We arranged to see it on the hard and we immediately loved it. Andy negotiated the price with the selling agent to my satisfaction and arranged for a very professional survey to be conducted both on the hard and in the water. Andy arranged all of the paperwork and carried out the negotiations in a most professional manner. He also helped me sail the boat from Mystic, CT to Newport, RI. I regard Andy Kovacs to be an excellent and fair agent and customer representative.
