In the fall of 2005, I transitioned to Brewer Yacht Sales after serving for the previous twenty-seven years in various sales and marketing positions in the hardware industry (including seventeen years at Stanley Tools and ten years with Milwaukee Electric Tools) in pursuit of building a new career from my passion for “the boating lifestyle”. Despite my success in these positions, my wonderful and supportive wife Melissa and our three great children supported my decision, as they also enjoy cruising on the New England coast and spending time on the water.
I accepted the offer to manage the Brewer Yacht Sales office in Branford, Connecticut in July of 2006. It was an easy decision for me –I find assisting others in their boat ownership extremely rewarding because I can witness firsthand the enjoyment their new boat brings.
Through diligent work, I earned multiple Brewer Yacht Sales awards ranging from “Team Spirit” awards to “Most Boats Sold” awards with an impressive 44 boats sold in 2007, 52 boats sold in 2008 and 40 boats sold during the challenging time throughout 2009. I have also consecutively received the Brewer Yacht Sales “Broker of the Year/Top Producer" Award for 2007, 2008 and 2009. I am also proud to be a member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America and a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB).
In the fall of 2007 I was a guest speaker at the NAMS “National Association of Marine Surveyors” Educational Seminar and presented “Vessel Surveys from the Broker’s Perspective”. In addition, I was elected to the Board of Directors of YBAA “Yacht Brokers Association of America” in February of 2009.
I hope you will enjoy my consultative approach to buying and selling; I truly look forward to serving you!
I would like to express my gratitude to Mr Hal Slater of Brewer Yacht Sales for his professional approach in the purchase of the 1978 53' Custom Durbeck Cutter.
Hal was a key component in making the purchase of the Durbeck sailboat a reality for me. Hal's honest and straight forward approach was an essential factor in negotiations. Ha;'s experience, integrity and attention to detail during the entire sales process were integral to keep both the seller and the buyer on the right path right up until the boat's closing.
During the sales process, I had a surveyor perform a pre-purchase condition survey, and the surveyor found some issues that required attention. Hal was able to keep the negotiations moving to a successful conclusion. Hal was instrumental in safeguarding and protecting my interests, for which I am very grateful.
Hal even went the extra mile after the sale to personally deliver additional items from the previous owner.
I would highly recommend Hal to anyone interested in selling or purchasing a boat.
